2017-32 Pinwheel Runner

This lovely little Table Runner was simple and fun to make.  It always is pleasant to work with fabrics that speak to you!  The backing and biding are a dark olive green.  It was quilted with a tan thread in a sunflower design that picks up the background fabrics in the pinwheel blocks.  This is one of my first entries prepared for 2018 fall fairs.

2012-16 Pine Tree Runner

This table runner was made of some leftover blocks.  I tried to unite these odd sized blocks by creating a grey snowdrift.  I decided to orient the trees so that people on both sides of our harvest table see the trees oriented upright.  It is machine quilted with a pine tree pattern.

2017-4 Autumn Harvest Runner

This runner was one of three coordinating runners made from a line of fabrics.  I love how the border print adds a touch of elegance to the runner.  It was custom quilted with a shiny polyester fabric that adds a bit of glitz to the runner.

2016-25 Little Frog Table Runner

pink-runner

This happy little table runner was made from some border fabric using a triangle pattern.  It was quilted with a yellow thread and bound with a coordinating purple fabric.  It was a quick and easy project and will be donated to the hand made items fundraising table of the little country fair near our cottage.  The big attraction at the fair is a Frog Jump, so it seems fitting!

2016-15 Xmas Table Runner

xmas-table-runners

These four runners started from a 1.5 yard piece of Border print fabric given to me by a friend.  I had wanted to make a triangle type runner so it seemed the perfect opportunity.  This design takes very careful cutting to get the design in precisely the right spot.  I was conscious of minimizing waste fabric, so made one of the runners with the opposite orientation to take advantage of the triangle cuts.  These runners look quite simple, but they are actually much more difficult than they look.  It is quite fussy to get the designs to flow perfectly.
The runners are quilted with a digital design called “Christmas Paisley” by Ann Bright in a neutral thread that gives texture without competing with the design.  The binding is a red and green Christmas flower print that perfectly pulls out the colours in the border print.  All of the binding is hand stitched.
These will be handy to have ready for hostess gifts at Christmas time.

2016-1 Colourwash Table Runner

colourwash-table-runner

This runner started from a group of leftover strip sets I found in my scrap bin.  I played around with them to create a pleasing layout of colour and then assembled.  I pulled two coordinating fabrics from my stash to add as inner and outer border.  It was custom quilted in a feather design with a muted rose thread.  I entered it in a few fall fairs this year and it won first prize most of the time.  A very pleasing result from a bunch of scraps!

2015-13 Easter Table Runner

easter-table-runnerThis Easter themed table runner started because of a category at the fall fair that called for an Easter item.  The center of the runner is a pale pink and white check that provides a good canvas for he Easter egg digital quilting design by Kim Diamond.  The bunny print outer border and narrow purple stop border work well with the theme.  The quilting is done in purple thread, which allows the design to take a more visible role in setting the theme.
